Can anyone give me tips for wedding photography: getting started, equipment, technique, what people are looking for, lighting, what kind of photos to take…etc. Anything would be helpful, I’m interesting in doing some weddings this summer. Thanks!!

I would like to know about photography. Like:
What skills are necessary to fulfill this position?
What schools (colleges/technical schools) and/or job could you apply for to develop these skills?
What average salary do they make?
Minimum of three professional photographers that contribute to that specific field of photography.
Examples of pieces of work from each photographer.

Does anybody have any advice for shooting a wedding? I guess i get to shoot my friends wedding on the 24th as they did NOT hire anyone. They are having family and friends shoot the wedding. and then they will see what everyone gets. Plus the Bride is still bugging me to do it. I said i wasn’t sure. as all I have is the camera 2 batteries, 2 memory cards, and 3 lenses (18-55, 50, and 75-300).

So does anybody have any advice?? Any Tips?
KK – The person she asked to shoot the wedding said yes and then had to send his camera in to be fixed. And it will NOT be back in time.

Both the bride and the Groom Like the photos they have seen from me so far. (Mostly kids and nature)

I have never even been to a wedding let alone photographed one.

    Here’s what I normally shoot. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dapphotography/
They have checked into local photographers we live in a TINY town and there are only a hand full. Everyone is busy that day. I wish someone was available. But they are not. They have even tried a few towns away. but everyone there is busy.

I can’t use regular batteries in my camera.
Ara57 – I do have an extra camera. It’s an Inbetween camera. I can set some settings but i can not set them all. I think I will go and get batteries for it sometime this week and go to the church and see how both cameras work. Thanks for the link.
Leigh – I don;t know who gave you a thumbs down. But it wasn’t me. I gave you another thumbs up.

Thanks for the responses so far. I talke dto her yesterday and she is still insisting that I take the photo’s. I am going to go to the church this week. And see what I can do.

I have a Nikon D200, 18-55mm vr lens & SB-600 flash. I am hoping to start doing some portrait and wedding photography. Is this setup sufficient? I know I could improve on the lens…but can’t really afford it right now. Thanks.

My cousin is having a simple beach wedding this month. Since money is limited she said i can photograph the wedding. I’m a beginner at photography in general. I have my share in experiences with photography. I do it as a hobby. I’m using an Olympus E-410 with a standard 14-45mm lens. I don’t have money to buy any new accessories. So does anybody have any HELPFUL tips and tricks to take breath taking photos. Or and websites/books that can give me some. Thank you so much :)
